Get Your Perfect Buzz This National Tequila Day

For the unaware, National Tequila Day falls on the 24th of July each year. This year, thankfully, that day also happens to land on a Sunday, which means many more fans of this agave-based spirit will be free to celebrate.

If you happen to be in Orange County or Irvine, following are a few of the most trusted spots capable of catering to your celebration of the tradition with due responsibility and diligence.

If you’re looking for local tequila-friendly establishments, Irvine has many of them— Puesto (a mexican artisan kitchen & bar), Cha Cha’s Latin Kitchen, and Javier’s located at the Irvine Spectrum Center.

This year Vice President of Bar & Spirits Beau Du Bois has crafted a menu comprising additive-free tequila cocktails which include the Del Maguey Vida, El Tesoro, and Olmeca Altos Reposado Tequilas.

The Hot Sauce Margarita at Puesto has long been a popular choice among spice lovers.

SOL Mexican Cocina, whose exotic taco menu is of the al-a-carte variety, and which has locations in Newport Beach and Irvine, is currently offering their own special renditions aimed at the celebration.

The Berries & Blooms is bringing Código 1530 Tequila Rosa Blanco, honey, fresh raspberries, lime juice, and Aperol aperitivo. The former is refreshing during summer thanks to its subtle sweetness. Try this along with the fresh raspberries for the ultimate fruity and floral punch.

If you’re going the spicy route, try the Cucumber Jalapeño Margarita, which is prepared with crushed slices of jalapeno and fresh citrus, cucumber, blanco tequila, and agave nectar. All of that together can be a perfect pairing for any taco plate.

Solita Tacos + Margaritas—the sister location—offers a watermelon margarita that’s made from crushed watermelon mixed with fresh lime and pure blue agave tequila blanco.
