Porch & Swing Introduces an Ever-Changing Menu Inspired by Charleston’s Culinary Scene

Irvine’s Porch & Swing is embarking on a culinary adventure with its new concept: an ever-changing menu that draws inspiration from the vibrant food scene in Charleston, South Carolina. This unique approach allows guests to indulge in the diverse and versatile concepts found within Southern U.S. Cuisine.

A Chef with Global Experience

Executive Chef Alan Sanz, who has honed his skills under renowned chefs worldwide, is eager and prepared for the challenge. Sanz emphasizes that the flavors of Charleston-inspired cooking are truly exceptional, as they incorporate bold flavors through global cooking techniques.

Sanz’s experience as an international chef has provided him with a distinct perspective on culinary styles from around the world. Now, he brings that expertise to Porch & Swing, embracing a farm-to-table approach for their fluid menu. The restaurant’s commitment to sourcing local ingredients ensures that every dish is fresh, flavorful, and reflective of the season.

“Our ever-changing menu initially began as a training exercise for our culinary team, but it evolved into a genuine representation of Charleston’s vibrant global dining scene,” explained Sanz. Porch & Swing celebrates the beauty and versatility of local, seasonal ingredients with dishes that capture the spirit of the South and the global influences of Charleston.

Beverages that Complement the Cuisine

Assisting Sanz in delivering this farm-to-table experience is Porch & Swing’s seasoned Beverage Director, Andrew Parish, who hails from Charleston. Parish feels a deep connection to the concept, given his familiarity with regional cuisine. He has curated a drink menu that complements the dishes, offering a selection of wines, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages that resonate with the Southern charm.

Embracing Tradition and Innovation

While Sanz and Parish are thrilled to share the ever-changing menu experience with guests, they also embrace tradition at Porch & Swing. During the last week of each month, diners can savor some of the restaurant’s most memorable dishes during “Classics Week.” This is a nod to the establishment’s roots and a treat for regular patrons who have their favorites.

Porch & Swing caters to various preferences with a $35 prix-fixe lunch menu and tasting menus ranging from $75 to $125. Additionally, the restaurant hosts a series of distinctive artisanal spirit festivals. Upcoming events include the Porch & Swing Agave Festival on Sunday, May 21, the Porch & Swing Rum Festival on Sunday, June 11, and the Porch & Swing Beer & Whiskey BBQ on Sunday, July 2.

Brunch enthusiasts will also delight in Porch & Swing’s “Around the World in 12 Brunches” series, starting on June 4. This series promises a gastronomic journey, allowing diners to experience brunch dishes from different cultures, all while staying true to the Southern essence.
